Leavenworth County is located on the Northwest corner of the Kansas City Metropolitan Statistical Area. We are within 20 minutes of a number of Kansas City landmarks/conveniences including: Kansas City International Airport (KCI), The Plaza, Zona Rosa, Downtown KC, Village West, the Kansas Speedway, Oak Park Mall, and the University of Kansas.
An efficient, accessible and well-maintained transportation network is one of our community’s most important infrastructural elements. The dynamic movement of goods, people and services through that community is essential for long-term economic prosperity, population growth, and maintaining our high quality of life.
The LCDC Infrastructure Committee continually administers transportation projects in Leavenworth County. One such project—the new I-70 interchange near Tonganoxie—will allow better access to Leavenworth County for those traveling on I-70.
